Kayaking contiues

The next day for we stopped for lunch in a very small well protected bay just south of Punta Candeleros
we were amazed at how many birds were milling around

But when the fishermen arrived to clean their catch we realized why the birds were there

these are Angel Sharks which we were told are probably what we were getting in our fish tacos

not sure what this shark is other than large

Kayak Trip - Loreto - Paddling South

Oasis Hotel Loreto

It was a 5 hour bus ride through some pretty  bleak country to get from La Paz to Loreto

We met Trudy from Paddling South here for our pre trip planning session

Very basic accommodations but nice location right on the eater at the end of the Malceon

fish dinner at the Oasis

shrimp dinner at the Oasis

I had to reorder the seared tuna as the first serving was cooked right through

A friend has joined us for the kayak trip

The trip started just south of Loreto at Puerto Escndido

There was only the 3 of us plus two guides

First camp at Punta Baja on Isla Carmen

The kitchen - I had to crawl into this cave and cool off, I was actually suffering from a little bit of heat stroke

Exploring the area

When we first arrived these were  our only
neighbours

but then another group arrived complete with tables and chairs brought in by a support motorboat

Abelskivers

Abel Skivers are a delightful Scandinavian breakfast treat that seem to disappear as quickly as they are made. Very much like a pancake ball, they require a special cast iron pan that looks like a round egg holder. Abel Skivers are often filled, and can be sweet, dusted with powdered sugar, or savory.
